Stella McCartney Fall Collection

One of our favorite designers is Stella McCartney. We just love her line of perfumes with their rose and amber notes, and she has some very chic clothes, many of which come in sizes larger than 6 (gasp!). A few highlights of her fall collection:

We gotta say, we were kinda tired of the whole color fade/bleed thing awhile back, when it started showing up on things like hoodies and velour pants. But this makes it chic all over again, and it is a very simple silhouette that looks comfortable to wear, unlike some fashion these days.

One big theme you see all through McCartney's collection this season is ruffles. She is in love with them, and we gotta admit, if they look this good we may just fall in love, too. We are normally not huge fans but this is gorgeous.

If we are gonna fall in love with ruffles, this is the type of dress that would make us do it. Not poofy at all, like ruffles can sometimes be. The color is great and would look good on just about any skin tone.

Weekend Warriors

There was a time when the words 'weekend warriors' filled our heart with dread, but that was because detention was sometimes held on a Saturday, thus the name. Not that we, uh … ever got detention or anything …

But now weekends are for fun and maybe even travel. If you are getting away for the weekend, you can't go wrong using one of these weekender bags:

Ed Hardy Jane Weekender - $148

We will start with our new Ed Hardy Jane Weekender, which reminds us a lot of a bowler tote. We just love this bag because it has the iconic Ed Hardy tattoo print with jewel and sequin detail, making it by far the most unique and must-have weekender we have ever seen.

Urban Expressions Versatile Weekender - $62.00

If you love urban chic, this Urban Expressions Versatile Weekender is exactly what you want. Made from soft patent leatherette, it has contrasting gold zippers that are totally eye-catching. A great value for a bag that lives up to its name because of its versatility.

Giraffe Print Medium Duffle - $52.00

OK, so this is a duffle, not a weekender. But it is just big enough that it can be used overnight, or as a weekender if you travel light. Or if you are going to a beach-like destination where your clothes will be barely there, and therefore fit into a smaller duffle. Take your pick.

Marc Jacobs for Fall

We have always loved Marc Jacobs, and we love him even more this fall. Why, you ask? Because more than any other designer this season (and we have looked at dozens of collections), he is using colors that are not traditionally thought of as fall colors, and we are loving it!

A great example is this Film Tee, which is a beautiful bright pink color that goes well with the usual black or gray fall fare. It is also that rare piece that looks both well-fitted yet just roomy enough to be comfortable.

We are not all that into this look, but we applaud him for the bold choice of color and print.

There is, of course, fall staples like black and white. But even these are chic and have a little edge to them, like the volume of this skirt that really makes the look.

This would catch the eye in any season, but particularly for fall. We will venture a guess that if you wore this outfit in say, November, nobody else would even come close to you in terms of color or boldness for wearing it. And isn't being part of the point?

Framed!

No, we are not talking about a crime caper! When we say something is framed, we mean that it has a structure to it. Most frame bags have structure at the top that gives them their overall shape and appeal. Here are some examples of framed bags that are new to Baghaus that we think you will love:

Urban Expressions Fantasia Shopper - $60.00

We have released several new Urban Expressions bags recently, and this is one of them – the Urban Expressions Fantasia Shopper. The gold tone frame at the top defines this otherwise simple bag that will match many pieces in your closet.

Urban Expressions Cameo Bag - $60.00

The new Urban Expressions Cameo Bag is another example of a framed, structured top that clearly defines the bag. Of course, the crescent-shaped opening and faux croc detailing help define it, but it is the rigid structure of the top that really shapes the bag overall.

Nicole Lee Patent Quilted Tote - $70.00

This Nicole Lee Patent Quilted Tote is almost the definition of structure in a bag. The rectangular shape makes this bag's unique style and the bold colors help it stand out even more, as if it needed help!

Get these and many other fine Baghaus bags on sale right now for a limited time, with free shipping over $100.

These Bags are No Slouch

So what's in a name? Usually a lot, but when you call a handbag 'slouchy' that is not a bad thing. It doesn't mean it is a slouch or has bad posture. OK, well we guess it has bad posture for a handbag, but in this case, that is a good thing. Check out our selection of slouchy bags that are great for everyday use:

Slouchy Shopper - $56.00

The Slouchy Shopper is the newest slouchy kid on the block. It comes in great colors like yellow, black, burgundy, pewter and purple. Buy a bright colored one to make a drab outfit pop, or buy a muted tone to enhance an already fabulous outfit.

Genuine Leather Slouchy Poeme Hobo - $250

If you prefer higher-end bags, our Genuine Leather Slouchy Poeme Hobo may be just your style.

Fadden Slouchy Satchel - $58.00

One of our first slouchy bags and still a best seller, the Fadden Slouchy Satchel is big without being bulky and can be used for multiple purposes.

Melie Bianco Birds of Paradise Slouchy Hobo - $56.00

Designer Melie Bianco has gotten into the slouchy trend as well, with this decidedly summery Birds of Paradise Slouchy Hobo. Allow yourself to be swept away to a tropical wonderland when you wear this bag that reminds us of sand, surf, sun and lots of fun.

Christian Siriano Put His Flatiron Down …

… long enough to finally debut his collection for Bluefly.com, which was part of the prize package he got by winning Project Runway. Yeah, we know it takes a long time to make a collection but considering he has been everywhere since he won, we thought maybe he wasn't actually designing. From beauty pageants to guest stings on Ugly Betty, the boy certainly knows how to work the media.

So does that ability to work the media transfer over to working his collection? Well, considering most of the collection is sold out, we guess so. Still available is this Dinner at 8 jacket, yours for a mere $520 – and that's a discount!

For just $70 more, you can instead get this poofy-sleeved blouse that is called the Posh. No doubt he named it after finale judge Victoria Beckham, who went absolutely gaga over Christian and his Bryant Park collection, if you recall. We wonder if she would wear this?

Or try this Red Carpet Shift Dress, which is a bargain at $325 compared to the rest of the items still available.

We think that these items are OK, but don't quite live up to the promise that made Christian the season 4 winner. Not fierce enough!

FitFlops are No Flop

Quite awhile back we blogged about the sold-out FitFlops, a thick-soled thong that is supposed to destabilize your foot just enough to make the muscles in your legs and gluteus maximus (read: booty) work harder. This was supposed to help you tone your muscles and look better. So we asked: do they work?

Well, 1 million people can't be wrong, can they? That is how many FitFlops have been sold to date, with thousands of buyers writing testimonials about how they work. Of course, you still have to diet and exercise to be toned but these apparently help. Just don't expect them to do all the work.

Since the FitFlops seem to be here to stay (or at least an extended stay), some designers have taken a stab at making the sandals seem less utility and more stylish. The above hybrid shoes are the result.

We gotta say, we don't love them. The fuchsia colored one with the white base, we like that one and would probably wear it, whether it was a FitFlop or not. However, the rest (and particularly the black one in the middle) are just not our style. Not saying they are bad, we just wouldn't go for them. Would you?

Smart. Edgy. Chic.

These three words are what we think about when we think about designer Nicole Miller. And now we offer these fine bags right here at Baghaus. Want to know why we think of these three words? Let us explain, with the help of visual aids, of course:

Nicole Lee Patent Quilted Tote - $70.00

Smart, because you will look smart for buying such beautiful bags at such low prices. Where else are you going to find a patent leatherette tote that is expertly quilted and has such great color details like this? The answer – nowhere else.

Nicole Lee Multi-Zipper Patent Tote - $72.00

Edgy because that explains a bag like the new Multi-Zipper Patent Tote. Zippers as accessories have never been used quite like this. It is eye-catching, stunning and has a decidedly urban feel yet can be used for everyday purposes whether you are running errands or doing something fun like lunching or having a spa day.

Nicole Lee Chain Link Handbag - $68.00

Chic because a bag like this takes a popular look (chains) and transforms it into something gorgeous and affordable for the everyday woman, and not just celebs who can afford the thousand dollar price tags that come with the newest "It" bags.

So now you know what we think of Nicole Miller bags. From the way they are flying out of our warehouse, we think our customers might just feel the same.

Pushing Buttons

Normally, when you push someone's buttons, that is a bad thing. But when the buttons are on a handbag, that just means you are closing the purse up, like in a button closure of some sort. But what if the buttons are on a wallet?

Urban Expressions Pushlock Wallet - $25.00

Buttons on a wallet? Surely we jest! But no, we are not jesting – our newest wallets are pushbutton closure, making them similar to a small, thin clutch that is a wallet instead of a purse. How cute is that! And this new Urban Expressions Pushlock Wallet almost looks like a red carpet clutch, without the red carpet price. For only $25 (on sale for a limited time) you can get this unique and gorgeous wallet that you will keep forever.

Giraffe Print Pushbutton Wallet - $22.00

Our new Giraffe Print Pushbutton Wallet is another keeper. This bag has the same pushbutton closure as UE one, but with the ever-popular giraffe print on it. This is a great wallet with plenty of slots for dollar bills and credit or debit cards. It even has a clear panel for your ID or driver's license and a small zippered pocket for change and other tiny items. In fact, both pushbutton wallets have all of these features.

So what are you waiting for? Be the first in your circle to own a pushbutton wallet.
