Sex and the City: WHAT Are They Thinking?

Ok, so we have professed our love for all things Sarah Jessica Parker, including the groundbreaking series "Sex and the City." We cried when it left the airwaves (yes, literally) and have been salivating for word as to when the much-anticipated movie would start filming.

Well, not that it is filming all over NYC, there are obviously some pictures that have been leaked and we are NOT happy about some of them. We know the show was always on the cutting edge of fashion, and we expect no less of the Big Screen version. However, some of these choices … Well, we will let you judge for yourself.

Is this a flashback to when our Fab Four ladies met? Because if this is not a flashback to 1980s fashion, then we are a little worried about Samantha's recent change in style.

Yeah … we don't know what to say. If we were SJP, we don't think we would be smiling like she is.

We can't decide which is uglier – the cheesy novelty bag or those hideous shoes.

What on EARTH is that feather thing on the side of SJP's veil? And why is the bodice of her gown so ill-fitting? She is swimming in the top, and those jewels look almost like stains.

The one redeeming factor is that we hear that many of these scenes (including the wedding one) are fantasies of the girls being played out and not a part of the actual storyline. Let's hope these clothes aren't a part of the storyline by the time it reaches cineplexes.

For the final hurrah at Bryant Park, the white tents will still be shining with designer collections but mainstays like Sarah Jessica Parker, Charlotte Johansson and other Hollywood fashionistas likely won't be in attendance.

It's Here, It's Here!

We posted a few weeks back about Sarah Jessica Parker's new Line, Bitten for Steve and Barry's. Well, it seemed like forever, but the day is finally here! Sarah has been frantically jetting around the country to promote the line this week and has made some very high-profile appearances. Pieces from her line have appeared on many a talk show, blog and celebrity site this week, and we are no exception.

First, we want to start with her "Manifesto," taken directly from the Steve and Barry site:

It is every woman's inalienable right to have a pulled-together stylish, confident wardrobe with money left over to live. GET BITTEN

Oh, how we love the woman who was Carrie Bradshaw! We couldn't agree more, which is why we started this blog, as a way to get the word out about fashion. Of course, a lot of fashion is out of the budget of us mere mortals, so we feature the newest Baghaus bags that cost a fraction of the average "It" bag, and tell you about lines like Bitten that are stylish, chic and affordable. In fact, here is the rest of SJP's Bitten line, with "more looks to come!" as promised by the site.

We think it is appropriate to leave you with this post for the week, because the subject of it (affordable fashion) is something you are going to be seeing a lot more of in this blog. Starting next week, we will be featuring sale, steals and deals items for your reading and buying pleasure. We will still have daily snarky celeb fashion posts, and will still routinely keep you informed of the newest Baghaus bags, but we also want to help you find steals other than just hangbags. In the words of SJP, fashion is not a luxury! So we here at Baghaus don't feel you should pay luxury prices, either. We hope you agree, and continue to read us daily as we grow!

Sex and the City on a Network?

When NBC released next season's prime time lineup, we were quite intrigued by several things. First, the superb Friday Night Lights was not only renewed despite low ratings but it is finally going to be where it is best suited – on Friday nights, duh! Second, there will be a series based on The Bionic Woman. We don't know if it is updated or going to feature cheesy 70s clothes (let's hope! There is a 70s bellbottoms void where That 70s Show used to be), but either way we are going to at least give it a try.

Most of the rest of the announcements were yawn-worthy until they uttered the name Candace Bushnell. Quoi? For those of you not in the know, Bushnell is the author behind Sex and the City, upon which the fabulous HBO series was made.

HBO was the perfect place for the steamy, uncompromising ladies and scripting that often came with the show. Now, Bushnell's novel The Lipstick Jungle is being adapted for a TV series – on NBC. We just don't know how to feel about this. Will Ms. Bushnell's words be watered down for prime time, even though it will take the later 10PM slot on Sundays.

But, no matter if the series has to be a bit self-censored, we just hope the characters are as colorful (and stylish!) as our favorite NYC quintet. Jungle will follow the exploits of three social-climbing, alpha-male 'business executives' who love men and make no apologies for their sexual aggression. Could be fun, let's just hope NBC doesn't mess it up. But we will give it a try. Hell, we gave a show about high school football a chance and got hooked! Stranger things have been known to happen.

Sarah Jessica Parker: Fashion is Not a Luxury

Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker's stylish columnist on Sex and the City was a fashion icon, to say the very least. She inspired millions of women to take up style as well as substance and do it in $480 Manolo Blahniks.

Though we absolutely love Manolos, they are not affordable for everyone. Young women beginning their careers, those with a hefty mortgage or rent payment or just sensible women who can afford Manolos but can't fathom paying as much as a car payment for them can't or simply won't buy such fashion splurges.

Luckily, Sarah Jessica Parker knows this and is now coming out with her own line of clothing that is affordable for everyone. Called Bitten, the line features nothing over $20. Yes, darlings you read that correctly – nothing over an Andrew Jackson, in a world where most fashion price tags start at several Benjamin Jacksons.

"Bitten is simple silhouettes that are affordable. You’re going to be able to buy $200 worth of clothes, leave that store with six bags and be able to pay your utilities," said Sarah Jessica told Glamour magazine. Oh, those words are music to our ears, and make us love you even more!

You can hear Sarah Jessica talk about why she started the line here.

The collection will begin appearing at Steve and Barry's stores across the nation starting June 7th. Be sure to sign up for updates on the line here.
