It's What's Inside that Counts

The inside (namely the lining) of clothes gets largely ignored by many today. There is nothing quite like opening up a neutral-colored jacket to see a bright shock of hot pink or yellow inside to contrast the outside. It gives the piece of clothing a little something extra, a nice pop.

Melie Bianco Carry-On Bag - $67.00

We feel the same way about the interior of handbags. A nice print or brighter color or just a neutral color in a silky lining all add to the allure of a bag. We have put out several bags with unique linings in them recently, not the least of which are the entire line of Melie Bianco bags, including the Melie Bianco Carry-On Bag pictured above.

Melie Bianco Washed Pleated Hobo - $70.00

How cute is it to open up a basic white bag to see the polka dot interior lining? Plus, with all those pockets built in, you will be touching the silky material, making it even more pleasant.

Vinyl Clear Beach Tote -$40.00

And then there is a bag like our Vinyl Clear Beach Tote, where the lining is clearly overlooked. Mostly because it doesn't need one. But we thought it would be funny to toss it in there anyways.

Get all three of these bags and lots of other super-lined bags at a discount with free shipping over $100 if you order during our big, limited-time sale.

Belts are In

Ok, so belts were never really out. Whether they are thick belts that cover your entire waist like a corset or thin skinny belts that just add a touch of color and define your waistline, belts are a staple of almost any wardrobe.

Nautical Tote - $47.00

That also includes handbags now. Belted purses or totes have been catching on recently, and as always Baghaus is right on top of this big trend. Our original Nautical Tote that came out several months ago was belted, and the spring color counterpart pictured above continues that tradition.

Giraffe Print Belted Shopper - $49.00

One of our customer favorites, the Giraffe Print Belted Shopper combines the trend of belted bags with the giraffe craze that is still oh-so-hot. We love this one, particularly the red trimmed version, though the more neutral brown holds a special place in our heart as well.

Medium Faux Snake Skin Bag - $50.00

The Medium Faux Snake Skin Bag has a large belt at the top of the bag that perfectly matches the snake skin print of the rest of the bag. There is also a larger version of this same belted bag.

Ed Hardy Diddy Satchel - $207

Not to be outdone, tattoo hero Ed Hardy has made a belted Diddy Satchel that is accented with sequins to add a little touch of bling to the bag.

Get one or all of these bags at special discounted summer rates, for a very limited time only!

Style Icon: Anne Hathaway

Last week, we posted about Anne Hathaway's recent success and threatened to do an entire post about her being a newly-minted style icon. Well, we have finally decided to follow through on our threat, and here is the result:

We admit, we first took notice of her style in "The Devil Wears Prada." While some think that anyone could have looked that good with those types of designer duds to choose from, we think few could carry that many different looks off. But Anne did it very successfully.

Even in a dress that could easily clash with her porcelain skin, she manages to look polished and put-together, and not the least bit washed-out.

Bows look great on shoes and handbags, but on dresses they usually look rather childish. But not here – Anne looks fabulous, as usual. She rarely if ever gets it wrong.

No matter what color she wears or what length, she looks great. This trio of Valentino dresses make her look gorgeous.

We bet she even looks good without makeup. Which would normally make us want to hate her, but how can you hate someone so talented?

She even looks great in jeans and a blouse.

Here she looks ready to conquer the world. If she keeps making movies like "Get Smart" that endear her to a large audience, she just might do so.

Get Carried Away - For Less!

The big noise surrounding the release of the "Sex and the City" movie may have died down, but the ripples it caused in how we dress are only beginning to show. As usual, Carrie and Co. showed us many styles that we now covet.

OK, maybe we don't covet ALL the looks. We still don't know what on earth stylist Patricia Fields was thinking when she chose this one.

You can get a budget replica of the flower dress, this green dress or even the sandals and Eiffel Tower purse now from online retailer Asos. They have created a virtual closet where you can click on some of the iconic looks Carrie wore in the movie and get inexpensive versions.

You can buy everything but the necklace in this outfit. A cheaper version of the dress, studded belt and even matching shoes can all be found at the Web site.

OK, so you can't buy the wedding dress. Which is not such a bad thing, since we are not sure if you can actually move around in that thing. Oh, and you can't buy that bird that is attached to the side of Sarah Jessica Parker's head, which is another blessing in disguise. But you can buy just about everything else.

Low Maintenance Bags

You always hear about relationships, and how some are high-maintenance and some are low-maintenance. Well, one of the biggest relationships a woman can have is with her clothes. Though some genuine leather bags are worth the extra effort of cleaning and carefully maintaining them, sometimes you want something that requires less fuss.

Convertible Canvas Tote - $54.00

A good, sturdy canvas bag suits that purpose just fine, like our Convertible Canvas Tote. Not only is canvas easy to clean, but this one is colorful, stylish and can be used in multiple ways, thus the 'convertible' name.

Canvas Bag with Detachable Beach Mat - $40.00

Canvas is also very versatile. From a stylish handbag like the tote to this Bag with Detachable Mat. Great for a day on the beach, but also in the park as well so you don't get grass stains by sitting and people-watching or just vegging out.

Canvas Cruise Tote - $52.00

One of our newest bags, this Canvas Cruise Tote is the perfect neutral color pairing for everyday use. It's roomy and stylish and can be used in so many ways, with so many outfits.

Giraffe Print Wheeled Duffle - $60.00

You can even put a giraffe print on it. Or wheels, like in the case of our Giraffe Print Wheeled Duffle. Talk about versatile! We bet nobody else will have this type of luggage at the airport! Set yourself apart and keep it low maintenance all at once!

Body Check

Sometimes, you can't do two things at once. Though we do love multitasking, it becomes very hard to do if you are carrying a handbag, trying to talk on your cell phone and shop or do something else at the same time. Trust us, it doesn't work. So we got a wireless handset, but where to put the cute clutch so we can use both hands?

5th Avenue Flap Satchel - $59.00

If this is a problem for you, then we have some solutions. We have a handful of crossbody or large, adjustable strapped bags that you can choose from to help solve the problem of not enough hands. Our first example is this 5th Avenue Flap Satchel, which has a strap large enough (when adjusted) to fit across your body, freeing up both hands for a heavy day of bargain clothing rack hunting.

Belted Duffle Bag - $52.00

Need something smaller than the 5th Avenue bag? Try our Belted Duffle Bag, which comes in a variety of colors including a bright blue, grey, orange, black and white. Cute, urban chic and hands-free – you gotta love that.

Genuine Leather Metro Crossbody - $90.00

If your taste runs to luxury or higher-end products, try our genuine leather Metro Crossbody. From shoulder to hip, this bag goes across your chest so you can have both hands free for whatever you may need them for.

Genuine Leather Messenger Bag - $90.00

There is also the genuine leather Messenger Bag that comes in six different colors including red, pink and orange.

The British Invasion, Pt. II

The first British Invasion changed many things about music, and for the better. From the Rolling Stones to the Beatles, so much of the influence of that period is still alive and well today. The influence can still be seen in artists today.

We are not saying that top British budget fashion shop Topshop will change fashion – in fact it won't. But this is one British Invasion we are still looking forward to. With most fashions well under $100, Topshop will be a great and welcome addition to fashionistas everywhere during this economic downturn.

In case you are not familiar with Topshop, think a more chic H&M, except you can order their items online, unlike H&M. Well, online from the British Web site, which was of course in UK Pounds Sterling and had European dress sizes.

Instead, come September you will be able to buy from the new U.S. Web site that will feature all items in US dollars and with US sizes. In addition, a brick-and-mortar store will open up in New York City, the first stateside for the British import.

We have long admired Kate Moss' collection for Topshop, and now we can buy her creations without paying heavy import taxes and having to figure out what GPB translates to in USD. And just in time for us to spend half our Christmas present budget! Yay!

Easy Access

There are several new handbags here at Baghaus that feature a pushlock closure. Because this recent phenomenon is selling well, we thought we would feature some of the best examples of this easy closure for you here on our blog.

Zebra Print Pushlock Bag - $52.00

The Zebra Print Pushlock bag is made of leatherette and has plenty of internal pockets for extra storage of all your goodies.

Giraffe Print Pushlock Bag - $54.00

If you crave an animal print pushlock but want something different than the zebra, try out Giraffe Print Pushlock on for style instead. It has all the same great features of the zebra bag but with the giraffe print inspired by the popular (but pricey) Dooney and Bourke bags.

Perforated Cruise Tote - $58.00

One of our newest additions is this Perforated Cruise Tote. It comes in colors like black, blue, pink, yellow and white to add a splash of color to your wardrobe.

Canvas Cruise Tote - $52.00

The Canvas Cruise Tote is also new and has a canvas shell instead of our usual leather or synthetic leather. The neutral color is sure to go with your entire summer wardrobe.

Melie Bianco Distressed Push Lock Bag - $72.00

Designer Melie Bianco also got into the pushlock act by releasing this Distressed Push Lock Bag in grey, orange, brown and white.

Get a discount on each of these bags for a limited time with free shipping over $100.

Little Bit Country, Little Bit Lingerie

We gotta hand it to Jessica Simpson. Her line of shoes is selling pretty well and we like a lot of her new styles.

And in order to get her singing career back on track, she has chosen to do a country album. Her first single has leaked and is getting a fair amount of both praise and criticism though it is not exactly rocketing up the charts.

So what is a girl to do? Well, expand her fashion line of swimwear, shoes and sunglasses into lingerie, of course!

Fashion bible "Women's Wear Daily" says that the new line of underthingies will feature daywear, sleepwear, bras and panties and will be ready in time for release in Spring of 2009. There will also be shapewear that will hide any and all pantylines as well, which we are always game for.

We want to just yawn every time we read about another celeb fashion line, but at least Jessica has proven through her shoe line that she does have some style. Whether that translates into lingerie remains to be seen, but we admit to some curiosity. How about you?

Gladiator Mania

At first, we really liked the whole gladiator sandal trend. They we sleek, sexy and had a little bit of a naughty look to them, which we liked. Shoes should be sexy, and the multiple straps and leg-enhancing style of these sandals really sealed the deal.

But somewhere along the line, this trend went from fabulous to overdone. Before you knew it, the shoes were overtaking the entire outfit instead of complimenting it. Now, we are all for shoes that make the outfit, but they still shouldn't be the entire focus of the look.

We also think that the look is being abused in the way it is being used. Nicole Richie wearing it with jeans – that almost hides the sandals and takes away the sexiness. Wearing them with jean shorts like Lindsay Lohan makes them too casual.

Wearing them like Ashley Olsen, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Heidi Klum is how this look is supposed to be done. It shows off the leg, improves the outfit and make the women look great.

We are on the fence about the sandals – they are overused and overexposed but when worn correctly they still float our boat. So for now, this trend is a keeper, just make sure you don't start wearing them with track suits or leggings.
