Couture Du Jour

Fashionistas all over the country look forward to the fall and spring fashion shows. Heck, with the way the new Cruise collections are shaping up, we are starting to look forward to those, too. But we gotta say, we have always looked upon the couture shows as more entertainment than planning our seasonal wardrobe.

This wasn't just about the atrocious cost of actual couture fashion (a single season's wardrobe could set you back a cool $100,000 or more). But it's also about how unruly and outrageous the clothes themselves were.

Despite this, the couture shows are a load of fun and we will be critiquing a few over the next week or so. But first, we are going to critique what the people attending the couture shows were wearing, because that is just as much fun!

Kate Hudson's sari-inspired yellow wrap got some good reviews, but we just don't like it. We know, yellow and volume are in and we are on board with the yellow, but the volume is waaaay too much here.

Meh. We could take or leave Fergie's look here. It's OK, but we would rather have one of those Chanel goody bags in the background rather than the outfit itself.

Vogue editrix Anna Wintour with a rare smile, and her daughter Bee Schaffer looking stunning at Chanel. Their outfits were pretty tame but they look vibrant, fresh and happy.

That is, until the bulbs started flashing, then it was back to the fashion-is-serious-business sunglasses look, while Bee shows that she can step into her mom's devil-worthy Prada with her pouty scowl.
