Dior Fall Preview: Fashion Shouldn't be Elitist

At their website today, Neiman Marcus has a video preview of the fall Dior collection, where John Galliano talks about the influences behind the collection and what he envisions it means for the people who will eventually buy the pieces.

The highlights: a lot of matching, such as the old fashion adage that the shoes and handbag have to match. In recent years, that has not really been the case. We still advocate at least semi-matching, with the two being only a few shades off. He also talks about a Japanese influence, which we do kind of see a bit in some of the pieces.

The best part is where he says "fashion shouldn't be elitist." Some of the pieces sure do seem elitist, especially when you look at those crazy hats that probably cost more than an entire mortgage payment. But overall, we do love most of it. You can see the entire runway show by clicking here.

Some of our favorites:

We love the shade and think its great that he incorporated some bright colors into the usually darker shades of fall/winter collections.

We love this Plisse basket tote and would use it for any season.

These are the prettiest stems in an otherwise so-so collection of shoes. We love how they stand out and incorporate a little of the metallic craze into a more demure shoe.
