Gray is the Next What?
Ah, New York magazine, the purveyors of all things chic and trendy (at least, according to them). We do love some of the pieces in your magazine (particularly the interview with Project Runway season 3 winner Jeffery Sebelia, which we will get into tomorrow), but other times you really have us scratching our heads.
Take for instance, the latest issue in which the editors give us all the 'next' big things. We usually love these lists, because it tells us where the new trends and technology are coming from, and how they will be useful to us. Unfortunately, this list was anything but helpful. Resin the new porcelain? Do we want to talk about the next materials to make toilets? And how about this gem: computers are the next faucets. With sentences like that, New York could easily become the John Galliano of the magazine world.

But true to fashionista form, we were most intrigued by their pick for the next color. Apparently, gray is the next chocolate brown. Say what? Not only does that seem really crazy (is there a need for a new color to take over chocolate brown's place in this world?), but we wonder what real-world application this would have. Do chocolate Labrador retrievers need a gray counterpart?

To make matters worse, they put a picture of a set of $150 gray napkins to make their point. The napkins are nice but for that price, we will stick to our chocolate brown and be old instead of new.
