Louis Vuitton: Spring 2008

Paris fashion week always has a few surprises and only the best designers. This of course would include Marc Jacobs, who we adore. Since he designs for Louis Vuitton, we are very interested in any collection, press release or whatever we can get our hands on in regards to them.

So naturally we were all over the photos from the recent runway collection, slated for spring of 2008. Here are some of the highlights:

This is just waaaay too cutesy for us. We already know the show is for LV, so spelling it out on the hats is a little overboard.

Wow. I bet that bag costs at least $1200. And it looks to be worth about $12.

Oh boy. What has happened to our beloved LV?

We have always thought that bags that had to actually spell out the designers name instead of just having the logo were trying too hard. We do not deviate from that thought process in regards to this bag.

Hey, we kinda like this one. Finally!

Seriously, Marc was all over the place in this collection, and we didn't like the majority of it. We are very disappointed but our undying love for LV won't wane. It's a love-hate relationship sometimes, anyways. And this collection proves it.

I am inclined to believe that Mr. Marc Jacobs' creative team must be on crak. My anticipation for new and inspired collections, comes down to simply new, but also waaaayyyyyyyy over the top. The collaboration with Murakami left the world with breath that was bated. The same of course happened with the Damier AZUR collections, as well as the new denim presented, and the Mahina "it" Bag. Can't they realize that Louis Vuitton was established and lasted for so long thanks to their ever-so-classy, ever-so-simple-that becomes-an-idol attitude and not the complete kitch of please-do-not-attempt-this-bag-outside-your-home?
My sincere wishes for quick rehabilitation. Remember, true genius lies beneath simple ideas.

I think that this collection of bags is truly new and fresh. True genius is in new ideas. I love what Marc Jacobs presented in this show. Actually this is the first time I've seen creativity or anything I could possibly be attracted to in Louis Vuitton.
