We generally blog on fashion and handbag-related topics but occasionally we venture out into the world of beauty as well. After all, clothes don't look good unless the woman herself looks good, and a good beauty regimen goes far in helping a woman feel confident enough to look her best.

The ugly little fish you see here is the garra rufa, which is a tiny fish that feeds on dead skin.

In fact, the fish is so adept at eating the dead skin cells off of humans that they are now used as a spa treatment in some parts of the world. Asia seems to be at the forefront of such treatments, having been doing them for several years now.

We first heard about this treatment on an episode last season of Ugly Betty where Whilelmina is trying to seduce Bradford after finding out that he has a foot fetish. She dispatches her assistant Marc all the way to Jersey to find the fish, and then proceeds to give herself a very unconventional pedicure with them.

We never knew how true-to-life that scene was. So many things about Ugly Betty are completely over-the-top that it's hard to discern fact from fiction sometimes, which of course is part of the fun of the show. But this wasn't one of the things we thought was true. You really do learn something new everyday.
