On a more serious note, we were horrified to hear that Yves Saint Laurent is in the hospital! Though we don't have a ton of details yet, we didn't know he was sick at all, so we are quite upset to hear about his illness.

He is apparently at the American Hospital in Paris recuperating from "acute health problems," the details of which are not known. His partner, Pierre Bergé said that he was not doing well and had bad respiratory problems.

We don't really know what any of this means, but we wish him well and a speedy recovery. The Godfather of Ready-to-Wear fashion, he has been retired since 2002, which would largely explain why we had no idea he was ill in the first place.

The pioneer was probably best known for his Le Smoking, a smoking suit that changed women's fashion forever. No, we are not overstating what happened, that suit really is iconic.

If you love wearing pants today or even skirted power suits or any kind of suit made for women, period then this picture and that man are who you have to thank. Before Le Smoking, nobody could have thought of women wearing pantsuits. Now, we don't think twice about it. Thank goodness for Yves Saint Laurent!
